Our Approach

Currently all sessions are conducted online via Zoom. There are online tools that enable students to interact with letters and sounds that are used in conjunction with the video conference session. 

We encourage a minimum of 2 sessions a week for at least 3 months to assess the program and its benefits. Ideally 3 hours a week works best for results but we are flexible to work with you and your schedule and needs. 

Sessions are pre-paid monthly with missed sessions credited for future use or rescheduled as needed.

The Barton Program

•Evidence based program with 1-1 teacher student instruction

•Focused on reading, spelling and writing difficulties

•Levelled and paced – 10 progressive levels

•Lessons are highly structured and carefully scripted

•Spends more time than most programs on spelling and goes beyond reading basics

•Barton aims to take the guesswork out of reading and spelling. It does this by having students memorize rules and practice using them with real and nonsense words

•Barton uses colour-coded letter tiles to help students connect sounds with letters

•Each lesson has 18 steps, and activities change about every five minutes

•If a student can’t complete the eight steps within an hour, the lesson continues at the next session

•Starts at 5 years old and in Kindergarten with pre-screening for new students
