The Reading Assessment

At The READy Clinic, every student begins with a comprehensive literacy assessment to determine their current reading level, identify learning gaps, and understand which foundational skills need further development. The results provide valuable insight into a student’s reading development for parents, READy Clinic instructors, and classroom teachers.
The assessment is designed to be a positive, supportive experience that helps students feel comfortable and confident. Using a combination of evidence-based tools, we identify each student’s strengths and areas of need, creating a detailed report that can be shared with families and schools to support a clear understanding of their learning profile.
The assessment takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and provides instructors with the information needed to guide instruction within our program and establish a baseline for tracking progress.

What the Assessment Includes

What Happens After the Assessment
1. Report Development
A detailed report is prepared outlining your child’s reading profile, including strengths and areas for growth. It will also identify the grade level your child is reading at today.
2. Report Review
We meet with families to review the findings, answer questions, and ensure a clear understanding of the results.
3. Clear Path Forward
Based on the assessment, we determine the most appropriate starting point within our program and match your child with the right instructor.
